      Important information

This policy meets the demands and needs of someone wanting to insure against unexpected vet costs for their pet. More than one level of cover is available and the option you've selected will be shown in your policy document.

      Policy declarations

      1. I understand there is no cover for pre-existing conditions. This means anything that has shown signs and symptoms, or has had treatment, medication or advice for, in the 24 months before a plan starts. However, if you have selected the Standard Care Pre-existing plan, cover for pre-existing conditions is given up to £1,500 per plan year. These conditions must be free from signs, symptoms, treatment, medication or advice during the 3 months before a plan starts.
      2. I understand the following waiting periods apply to a pet when it is first added to the policy, unless that pet was insured by another insurer for 12 continuous months up to the date my policy starts:

        • We are not able to pay a claim for any accident that occurs or is treated within the first 48 hours of the policy. These conditions will not be covered until your pet has been on cover for 12 months.
        • We are not able to pay a claim for vet fees incurred due to illness or any claim if your pet passes away due to illness, within the first 14 days of the policy. These conditions will not be covered until your pet has been on cover for 12 months.
      3. I will follow my vet's recommendations on vaccinations and ensure my pet has their annual dental and health checks, otherwise related claims might be rejected.
      4. I understand that no claim will be paid if my pet is used to earn money or used in connection with any business.
      5. I understand I can cancel my policy at any time within a 14-day cooling-off period for a full refund, as long as I have not been paid a claim.
      6. I understand that when my policy renews after my pet's 7th birthday, I will need to pay a fixed excess once a year if I claim, plus 20% of each claim.
      7. I understand the price of my insurance is likely to increase each year. Things like pets getting older, my claims history and more sophisticated vet treatments becoming available can significantly affect insurance costs.
      8. I understand it's my responsibility to answer all the questions accurately and honestly and my policy could be invalid if any information is incorrect.
      9. I have read the key policy information, including cover and exclusions which are in the IPID.

We made the following assumptions about you and your pet

      1. You are the owner and keeper of the pet you are insuring. Being the owner and keeper means your pet lives with you and you're the person registered at the vet.
      2. You have never been declined for insurance for your pet.
      3. You have never had a pet insurance policy cancelled or voided by us or another insurer, unless this was for non-payment.
      4. Your dog is not a breed or a cross-breed of a dog listed in the Dangerous Dog Act 1991 or in our list of breeds we don't cover.
      5. Your dog is not a Bully breed type defined by the physical characteristics set by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural affairs. This includes any dog that has been registered for a certificate of exemption from the XL Bully Ban.
      6. Your dog is not used for guarding, racing, coursing or fighting.
      7. Your dog has not been trained to attack, bite or guard.
      8. Your dog has never attacked or bitten anyone or another animal and never been in any fights.
      9. You have no unspent convictions for any kind of offence involving dishonesty, fraud, or any crime under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
      10. You live in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man for at least 180 days during a policy year.
      11. Your pet has not been pregnant, or given birth, more than three times.
